UPDATE: Ipid finalising its report on Mervyn Masher case

The Ipid spokesman, Sontaga Seisa said that the decision to charge anyone linked to the shooting rested with the NPA, based on the evidence available.

MBOMBELA – The police watchdog Ipid is continuing investigations into the shooting death of Mervyn Masher,
a prominent Mbombela businesman, in the early hours of June 9 this year.

According to Ipid spokesman Sontaga Seisa no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

“Ipid is still waiting for the ballistic report from the laboratory.

“We will only prepare the case docket for the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) after the report is available.

“For now, Ipid cannot say who is to be criminally charged and for which offence,” he said.
