Secret cell phone leads to teacher’s arrest for alleged sexual grooming of minor
A 30-year-old man was arrested for alleged child grooming as well as supply, exposure and display of pornographic material to a child.

The events leading up to his arrest started when the mother of the child entered her bedroom on Tuesday November 5 and found that her 14-year-old daughter had a cellphone that she had not bought for her.

The daughter then attempted to hide the cellphone under her pillow. However when confronted by her mother, admitted that a man who is believed to be an educator at the school her daughter attends bought the phone for her.

The mother went through the phone and discovered pornographic material exchanged between the minor and the teacher. She immediately contacted the police and two cases were opened.
According to Brig Hlati, the accused was arrested on November 19 and charged. He then appeared in the KaBokweni Magistrate Court on November 20, where he was remanded in custody for his formal bail application on November 22. After his brief appearance in court today the matter was postponed until Tuesday November 26. The accused remains in custody.
