X-rays now available in Malalane and Buffelspruit

Banele Shakwana grew up in Driekoppies and decided to come back to his roots and serve his community

MALALANE – Banele Shakwana (26), who grew up in Driekoppies Trust, opened two X-ray practices in the Onderberg in one year.
The first one was opened in Buffelspruit in October 2018 and the one in Malalane, this October. Corridor Gazette spoke to this young man to find out what brought him back to the Onderberg.

Shakwana’s mother worked on a farm in the trust and his dad works for a retailer. He matriculated from Joseph Matsebula Secondary School in Driekoppies. Through hard work and determination, he was awarded a bursary through the Department of Health.
Shakwana studied radiology at the Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein. He did his community year at Rob Ferreira Hospital in Mbombela. After this, he went on to study and specialised in mammography at the University of Johannesburg.
Shakwana got married a few weeks ago to a medical doctor. He works six days a week and attends church on Sundays. He is a family man. He came back to the Onderberg to serve the community and give hope to all the young people out there in the trust areas.
The Buffelspruit practice is at the Buffelspruit Medical Centre and the one in Malalane is at the Health & Wellness Centre, 12 Air Street.
