Runners and pets take on the Fit to Go trail run

Saturday was the perfect day for the Fit to Go Gym trail run that was hosted in aid of SPCA White River at the Bagdad Centre.

The overcast sky and cool breeze made it easier to finish the five kilometres that started at the airfield and ended at Zannas Café.

The theme was “A Splash of Blue” and everybody took this to heart, as a sea of shades of blue lined up at exactly 07:00 at the starting line.

This was an occasion the whole family – including pets – could enjoy and the sponsors believe it was the perfect opportunity to herald the start of the festive season, with a strong fun element built into the programme.

What made the fun run so much more attractive was probably the breakfast special awaiting entrants at the finish line, courtesy of Zannas Café. What nicer way to end of your morning exercise than to sit down to a plate of bacon and egg on toast, with fresh orange juice?

It was also an opportunity for the SPCA to show off their brand-new vehicle, after their previous one was written off in an accident.

Prizes were even awarded to the furry runners, and first prize went to Maggie, who ran with her human friend Peter Bower.
