WATCH: Angry protesters demand answers from police
According to one of the protesters, the community grew worried when yet another child went missing on Wednesday evening.

Angry community members of Coromandel marched to SAPS Lydenburg’s detective branch to deliver a memorandum of grievances on Thursday.
The protesters said they were unhappy with the progress in a case of alleged murder.
They also accused the police of not handling the case properly.This is after a six-year-old, Nhlakanipho Nkosi, went missing in last August. He was later found dead in a ditch on December 22 and his upper body was missing. According to one of the protesters, the community grew worried when yet another child went missing on Wednesday evening.

The child’s stepfather, Mpho Makofane, said, “Thulane Sibiya (9) disappeared and was found in the early hours on Thursday.
This was after the community members helped us to search for him.” The child was questioned in the presence of his mother on his recent whereabouts, but could not remember anything. “It is unclear where the child had been, and a case was opened,” Makofane said.

The memorandum received by Lydenburg SAPS station commander, Col Llota Motseleng, states: “Unfair treatment by Lydenburg SAPS. Cases being closed without knowledge of the community and family. The police take time to come when called.”

In their memorandum they implicated the local SAPS in various allegations. When Steelburger/Lydenburg News contacted the local police, they were referred to provincial offices. According to provincial police spokesman, Brig Leonard Hlathi, they will attend to the complaints raised by the community.
