Diamond Arrow award for Onderberg lodge

MALALANE – Boulders Safari Lodge won the PMR.africa Diamond Arrow award for 2019. This was awarded to Boulders, which ranked first overall out of 300 lodges and rated at least nine out of 10, which is equivalent to outstanding. Lodges must be nominated by guests who stayed there.

Corridor Gazette visited the lodge and spoke to Johann van den Heever, general manager. Accommodation consists of 28 beautifully furnished rooms with air conditioners and six fully equipped tents with fans in an area surrounded by huge old trees and majestic rocks. They offer buffet meals and braais three times a week to provide the African experience. A crystal clear pool invites guests to cool off in the Lowveld heat.

The lodge is home to various wildlife. They do local game drives, morning walks and sunset drives.

They also offer guests drives to the Kruger National Park, eSwatini, Panorama Route, Chimp Eden, Sudwala Caves, Kwa Madwala Private Game Reserve for interaction and rides on elephants as well as one-day shopping trips to Mbombela.

• The nomination and voting are based on individual guest experience.
Award status criteria
• Diamond Arrow: ranked first overall and rated at least nine out of 10
• Gold: first or second overall and rated at least five
• Silver/bronze: first, second or third and rated at least five.

General criteria
• The awards are always the end result of a research process where companies, departments, institutions and individuals are nominated and rated by respondents
• A nominee cannot enter the research process
• The ratings are always based on the perceptions of the respondents.
