Kidnapped woman still missing after three months

A family member told Lowvelder that every day has been a struggle and that they can only pray for her safe return.

Three months later, there is still no trace of the Mozambican mother who was kidnapped in broad daylight in the city outside her house. The 53-year -old Guitabali Samgi was last seen on October 15.

The Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Brig Leonard Hlathi, confirmed that a case of a missing person was registered at the Nelspruit police station.

“It is alleged that on October 15 at about 14:30 the victim left her residence, Elawini Lifestyle Estate in Mbombela, and went to Crossing Centre. She was supposed to fetch her child from school later, but did not. Her husband became worried after he failed to get hold of her.”

“Her car was found at Cairn, on the outskirts of Mbombela, with the driver’s window smashed. Her belongings were found inside the car,” Hlathi said.

The Hawks have since taken over the investigation, but declined to comment due to the sensitivity of the case.
