Load-shedding over weekend unavoidable

MBOMBELA-  According to a statement issued by Eskom, this is due to a shortage of generation capacity and depleted emergency resources, which were used extensively during the past few days.

Unplanned outages at 12 722 MW also added to the power utility’s inability to deliver adequate power to South Africans without causing a national blackout.

“We apologise to South Africans for the negative impact this may have on them. We want to assure the nation that critical maintenance is being done to units on planned outages, as well as on those not planned for, to ensure their timeous return to service,” the statement read.
