Duck ‘n Dive celebrated 15th birthday in Mexican style
The locals partied the night away in true Mexican style.

Last week Duck ‘n Dive celebrated its 15th birthday. Joy Jones and Allan Hillier bought a house in Marloth Park in 2004 with the idea of establishing a holiday/retirement home.

The two of them came down every second weekend. Within months, this changed to every weekend.

A life-changing decision was made when they realised the Onderberg life was a much more relaxed one than that which they had been leading in Vereeniging. They soon realised that they were not ready to retire.

The local pub was for sale and they bought it. Joy’s son, Gavin has been working with them since the earliest days. His wife, Shireen also joined this winning team. Duck ‘n Dive is the pub that has been trading the longest in Malalane, and is famous for not only a good atmosphere, but excellent value for money food.

The theme for its 15th birthday was “Mexican” and really set the mood for the night. Nachos, quesadillas, jalepeño poppers and stuffed peppers were on the menu.

A tequila promotion was available and a jelly shot was served for the brave-hearted. The locals partied the night away in true Mexican style.
