Scrapyard owner assures it’s business is all above board

When recycling is done correctly, it can have a huge positive impact on our natural resources and environment.

Recycling is essential to secure a sustainable future for the local community and wildlife, and imperative to our way of life.
Brandon Rossouw, owner of Rossouw Recycling and Scrap Metals Scrapyard (RRS) in Malalane, wants to ensure the public that his business follows all the laws pertaining to buying scrap metal.

“We are aware that there is a criminal element present, and we know that certain businesses are worried, but we are working with the local SAPS and security companies to not only get the stolen items back, but to also identify the suspects. We have several security measures and processes in place, such as a CCTV system with eight cameras. With every transaction we require full identification, as per the Second Hand Goods Act. We have copies of every seller’s identity document,” said Rossouw.
The area manager for Securicon, Henry Coetzer, confirmed that they have been contacted by RRS in the past about possible stolen goods. Suspects have been identified by RRS and this information was shared with all the relevant role players.

According to Rossouw, it is really important to recycle. When recycling is done correctly, it can have a huge positive impact on our natural resources and environment. Coming from a corporate internet-technology background, he noticed that large enterprises started to recycle, and that for any large institution to start recycling, there should be a clear indication to all of us of how important recycling really is.
Rossouw Recycling and Scrap Metal has an open-door policy, and welcomes the community to come and visit the business.
