Sunday inspirational message from local pastor

"Wear those masks and wash your hands. Your family and friends trust you to do the right thing," he said.

Since the 21-day lockdown started, the public has not been able to meet for their weekly church services. As a way to encourage and motivate the community during these confusing times, Past Andre Hanekom, from the Lydenburg Full Gospel Church, has put together a motivational talk.

According to Hanekom, so many things could have been different but they are not. “We are facing an extraordinary situation, but it cannot outweigh God’s mercy.

In 2 Corinthians 12:9 it reads, “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” (King James Version).

Never ever have people reached out to God as in these times in which we live. When people feel helpless and fearful, they find reassurance in the arm of God. It is there where we find hope, not just for protection and healing, but for assurance in the middle of the storm,” he explained.

Hanekom also to referred to the story of Horatio Spafford, writer of the song, “It is well with my soul”. “He was a successful man but lost everything in his businesses.

Further, he lost his daughters while they were on a ship. As he passed the area where their ship went down, he wrote this verse.

“When peace like a river, attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll. Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, it is well, it is well with my soul.”

“We never know how we will respond when we hit the storms in life, but since God is with us during the good times, he surely will guide us during our worst,” he explained.

Hanekom also urged the public to stay safe at home. “Wear those masks and wash your hands. Your family and friends trust you to do the right thing,” he said.
