230km – Biokineticist will burn calories to motivate donations
Every person that backs Van Zyl Wait in his cycling challenge, will donate R150. This will go towards the Community Can Challenge to help reach the goal of 49 902 cans, some of which have already been donated to communities in need.

Tomorrow morning at 06:00 Van Zyl Wait, local biokineticist, will cycle 230km, all while remaining under lockdown.
In a video talk with Harshil Mitha from the Community Can Challenge, Wait said he would be joining the Trans Baviaans ultra-lockdown challenge, which is a virtual race.

He said the race was supposed to take place this weekend, starting in Willowmore in the Eastern Cape. Instead, he will be completing the 230km on an indoor trainer and using an app called Zwift to record the statistics.

According to Wait, in Zwift language, you burn pizza slices. “One slice is about 285 calories and for the distance of 230km, you burn about 15 slices”.
This is where the link to the Community Can Challenge comes in. For every pizza slice Wait burns, individuals who back him will pledge R10, equalling a total of R150 per person if he finishes the “race”. He has 24 hours to complete the 230km, but will try to finish in about 12 hours.
