Lowveld High to reopen gates

According to a statement released by the school today, it is ready to welcome its grade 12s back on Monday.

After not being able to reopen on June 8 due to two of its teachers testing positive for Covid-19, the statement now assures both learners and parents that the school, with the departments of education and health, has taken every measure to ensure a safe learning environment.

  • All staff (educators and support staff) were screened on June 4.
  • A total of 60 staff members were tested and cleared of Covid-19.
  • Staff who were in contact with the teachers who tested positive have gone into self-quarantine for 14 days.
  • All teachers who teach grade 12 learners and interact with either learners or visitors have tested negative and/or have undergone self-quarantine and show no signs or symptoms of Covid-19.

JR Nkosi, HOD of the Department of Education, has declared that the school is ready for the return of grade 12s on Monday. The hostel will open on Sunday.

Gates will open at 07:00 (half an hour earlier than usual) to receive learners so as to allow more time for the screening process.

All learners will receive two cloth masks, issued to the school by the Department of Education.
