Covid-19: Death toll rises to 312 yet active cases decrease to 1 649 in Mpumalanga
South Africa has recorded 613 017 confirmed infections, according to an announcement by the minister of health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Tuesday, August 25. A total of 23 331 of those cases have been reported in Mpumalanga.

According to data released by the Mpumalanga Department of Health, there have been 21 370 recoveries and 312 deaths to date.
The number of positive cases in the province can be broken down as follows:
Ehlanzeni District
• Bushbuckridge: 658 cases, 596 recoveries and six deaths
• City of Mbombela: 3 831 cases, 3 439 recoveries and 26 deaths
• Nkomazi: 1 803 cases, 1 626 recoveries and five deaths
• Thaba Chweu: 338 cases and 299 recoveries and one death.
Gert Sibande District
• Chief Albert Luthuli: 631 cases, 582 recoveries and five deaths
• Dipaliseng: 321 cases and 304 recoveries
• Dr Pixely Ka Isaka Seme: 814 cases, 762 recoveries and 11 deaths
• Govan Mbeki: 3 195 cases, 2 963 recoveries and 24 deaths
• Lekwa: 997 cases, 923 recoveries and 50 deaths
• Mkhondo: 469 cases, 402 recoveries and 21 deaths
• Msukaligwa: 1 344 cases, 1 218 recoveries and 37 deaths.
Nkangala District
• Dr JS Moroka: 338 cases, 323 recoveries and six deaths
• eMakhazeni: 349 cases and 308 recoveries and 11 deaths
• eMalahleni: 4 957 cases, 4 601 recoveries and 41 deaths
• Steve Tshwete: 2 265 cases, 2 047 recoveries and 41 deaths
• Thembisile Hani: 588 cases, 560 recoveries and 20 deaths
• Victor Khanye: 433 cases and 417 recoveries and seven deaths.
