MIB canal repaired after vandalism
Darryl Pepworth, MIB chairperson, confirmed that a plate had been welded over the hole of the vandalised pipe.

MATSULU – The damage incurred to the Malelane Irrigation Board (MIB) canal at Matsulu has been repaired.
Pepworth also mentioned that MIB had had a meeting with the City of Mbombela Local Municipality (CMLM) general manager, Wendy Tshawe, who is in charge of water service delivery to Matsulu.
“We have another meeting planned but await that date. So far the cooperation with Mbombela is good,” Pepworth said.
The pipe was vandalised after an ongoing dispute between MIB and Matsulu residents.
“What we do need is that somebody, like a politician, who is influential, to address the Matsulu community and explain to them that the Malelane Irrigation Board is not, by law, allowed to provide water for primary use.
CMLM, through Silulumanzi, are the service providers for that.
The Matsulu community also need to refrain from their hostile actions towards our staff and property,” he concluded.
