Industrial action ends, MTPA attractions open again
The executive management of the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) announced today that the unprotected industrial action that started on April 6, had ended with effect on April 20.
The MTPA and the provincial leadership of the National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) will sign an agreement today that will see all issues raised since the beginning of the industrial action being addressed.
“We are pleased that after numerous engagements with Nehawu, we have finally managed to reach an agreement on a way forward.

“We are confident that the work currently under way by the joint task team will be concluded, and we will implement the agreement that we signed accordingly,” said Johannes Nobunga, CEO of the MTPA.
S’dumo Masilela, the regional secretary of Nehawu, confirmed that after having taken its members through the agreement, they will sign.

Nobunga said the MTPA’s nature reserves are now open for business again, and apologised for any inconvenience caused during this time.
