Nelspruit Hospice shows its appreciation for its volunteers
As a NPO, hospice depends on donations and volunteers. The local hospice is in need of community members who enjoy volunteering.
Volunteers are the backbone of most non-profit organisations (NPOs). Nelspruit Hospice said it has witnessed how volunteers prove to be an invaluable resource.
This local hospice is a non-profit organisation that provides quality home-based palliative care to people with life-threatening illnesses. In this past week, they sent out messages of appreciation to the various volunteers that support them by dedicating their time to help the organisation.

The CEO of Nelspruit Hospice, Landi Bezuidenhout, said the volunteers assist them in four important areas. “They are involved in administration support, maintenance, fundraising and companionship. This makes it easier for us to be able to provide our services to the community.” Bezuidenhout said the public is not aware that hospice assists patients with creating memories even when they are battling with life-threatening illnesses. “They need companionship. This place is not about death. This is because they are vulnerable. If you have time and the heart to support others, join our companionship volunteers.”

It is also in need of a retired librarian to help it with its collection of books. It will be hosting its pop-up market on August 28 as a way to raise funds; this will start at 10:00 and end at 14:00 at the organisation in 84 Ferreira Street.
