Local wins prestigious international award

The award shows that the communicator is excelling in implementing global best practice in communication.

Sappi’s communications manager, Elsabe Coetzee, was recently awarded the prestigious international Gold Quill Award.

The Gold Quill Awards are International Association for Business Communication’s (IABC) premier awards programme, recognising and fostering excellence in the field of business communication.

This was Coetzee’s eighth Gold Quill.  Coetzee said the award shows that the communicator is excelling in implementing global best practice in communication.

According to Ritzi Villarico-Ronquillo, chair of the IABC 2021 awards committee, this year’s Gold Quill winners were selected among 482 entries from 22 countries.

“Our 2021 award winners personify the spirit of the Gold Quill Awards – recognition of excellence and a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth,” said Villarico-Ronquillo.

Coetzee added that though she has won eight Gold Quill Awards, it is her 10th IABC Award, eight of them being Gold Quill awards and two IABC Quill Best of the Best Awards, most of which have been achieved in collaboration with key team members.

“One of these was the Best of the Best Award in the IABC Africa chapter, and the other was the Best of the Best in Safety Communication globally,” she said.

“It is an amazing feeling to receive an IABC award. It validates that your work is solid and professional.

“Winning a Quill Award leaves you with a great sense of accomplishment. Knowing that you are recognised for your ability and commitment to deliver communication and campaigns that truly impact the hearts and minds of people and deliver on the core objectives of your business, is a powerful motivator for individuals and teams,” she said.
