CANSA Mpumalanga’s telethon gets dialling to raise funds against cancer

The telethon is being run in all provinces, with each province picking nine influencers to help the CANSA team raise the funds.

In celebration of CANSA’s 90th birthday, the organisation is running a telethon in an attempt to raise R729 000 to continue the fight against cancer in South Africa.

The teams then make calls and with the help of the influencers, try to raise the fund goal. Mpumalanga CANSA’s sustainability coordinator, Melissa Young, said SPAR Lowveld has pledged R27 000 to the cause.

Scores of other people also pledged any amounts they could afford. Young said it did not matter which CANSA team one donates money to, as it is all going towards one thing: the fight against cancer.

She said the team was grateful for all the donations thus far, and thanked those who had pledged money to the cause. The total amount raised by CANSA and the key donators will be announced in Lowvelder next week.
