Power restored to Mbombela CBD after hours-long outage
Cable theft resulted in the CBD and surrounding areas being without electricity, but the power has since been restored.

At about 15:20, all power was restored to the affected areas.

It appears that Mbombela’s CBD and surrounding areas will be without power for most of the day following an incident of cable theft in the early hours of this morning.
The City of Mbombela said on its Facebook page that the theft has caused a power outage in the CBD and areas nearby. A case of theft has been opened.

The estimated time for repairs this morning was between eight and 12 hours. According to Thea Rix, the latest update states that the estimated time is now between four and five hours. Repairs are under way.
The municipality has apologised for the inconvenience.
