Best of fun bowling in Hazyview

The 57th Nornan Ladies Fours Tournament was held at Bungalows Bowling Club on September 4 and 5. It was a successful two-day event as 40 players participated in 10 teams. The format was four in a team.

Bungalows scored 40 points and were crowned the champs. It was a special tournament as they had last won it in 2002. The team consisted of Marlet Ireland, Di Sheehy, Connie Fraser and Christie Cross. The runner-up team were Lowveld Country Club (LVCC) on 32 points. Debbie Day, Elda Rautenbach, Marilyn Coulson and Elinor Storkey made up team LVCC.

In third place were Sunette Claassen, Madaleine de Klerk, Charlotte Taljaard and Michelle van der Westhuizen of Groblersdal with a score of 25 points.

The money raised for the event went to the White River SPCA. The tournament had a hippie theme so competitors had to dress up. Those who were the best dressed were given a prize. Katina Erasmus, Elaine Joubert, Antoinette Naude and Merle Joubert were crowned as the winners.

On May 2, 1965 Bungalows had its official opening. The first weekend of September in 1965 saw the first Nornan Ladies Fours Tournament sponsored by Norman and Nan Gaydon. The Nornan tournament is an annual event at the club.
