Protest action closes Kruger Gate

The road has been blockaded at Belfast Village.

The Hazyview Kruger Gate road has been blockaded at Belfast Village due to protest action.

SANParks has requested that guests travelling to the Kruger National Park via that route use alternative gates such as Phabeni and Numbi.

A provincial police spokesperson, Col Donald Mdhluli, said that according to police reports from the area, protesters have placed sand on the road leading to the gate, however “cars are able to pass”.

“The Calcutta police are on the ground and are monitoring the situation. The local municipality (Bushbuckridge Local Municipality) has reportedly promised to remove the sand,” he said.
