Former MEC Mandla Msibi’s court case postponed due to bomb threat

The bomb squad searched the court and surrounds for three hours

The murder case against the former MEC for the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environmental Affairs, Mandla Msibi, has been postponed to October 14.

This after Magistrate Susan Monaledi had received a message about a bomb threat at the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday morning.

Monaledi dismissed the court with immediate effect.

“The police will now be investigating who might have been behind the false alarm. We have opened a case following the false bomb alert,” he said.

On Tuesday, Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane had suspended Msibi from his position with immediate effect.

This move, she said, was in the best interest of the ANC and Mpumalanga.

He had handed himself over to the police on Monday, accompanied by his lawyer.

He was arrested in connection with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

Busisiwe Shiba will act in Msibi’s former position.
