White River edge out Bungalows
A lawn bowling tournament was held at Bungalows Bowling Club in Hazyview on October 2, during which the women challenged one another to be crowned the trips champions.
The tournament focused on skill and precision instead of brute strength.
Bungalows was the hosting club for the weekend. Teams of three from various clubs in the Lowveld played with three bowls each. The teams played against one another to go through to the Mpumalanga play-offs.
Six teams entered the tournament in groups of three. A team from White River, two teams from the Lowveld Country Club, a team from Nelspruit, a team from Waterval Boven and the team from the hosting club, Bungalows, attended the tournament.

Bungalows and White River won their sections and had to play out for first and second place; White River was victorious. Team Nelspruit and the two teams of LVCC were second in their section and played out for third and fourth; Nelspruit took the bronze on the day.
These teams will participate in the Mpumalanga play-offs in Ermelo on October 23 and 24.
Lawn bowling is a sport in which the objective is to roll biased balls so that they stop close to a smaller ball called a “jack” or “kitty”.
It is played on a bowling green which may be flat or uneven. It is normally played outdoors (although there are many indoor venues) and the outdoor surface is either natural grass or artificial turf.
