Crossing Centre turns 18

However low-key, Crossing Centre still wanted to acknowledge its big 18th birthday, and what better way to do this than by having balloons at its entrances and along its walkways. What's a birthday without balloons?

Turning 18 is an auspicious occasion in anyone’s book – in South Africa you can get your driver’s licence and you can vote – and for Crossing Centre it was certainly no different.

Customers receive shopping bags, biscuits and a balloon in celebration of Crossing Centre’s 18th birthday.

The centre is very proud to have been part of the Mbombela community for 18 years and has certainly gone the extra mile to offer its #MyHeartBeat shoppers the very best mix of stores for the ultimate secure daily shopping experience.

“We’re very aware of the fact that Covid has adversely affected many, many people and, with this in mind, we decided to keep our 18th birthday celebrations very low-key,” said the centre manager, Anita McGarry.

“However, we still wanted to acknowledge this big birthday, and what better way to do this than by having balloons at our entrances and along our walkways, I mean, what’s a birthday without balloons?

“We also always want to acknowledge our dedicated tenants and loyal shoppers, without whom Crossing Centre would not be the hive of activity that it is today,” continued McGarry.

With this in mind, and ever aware of the scourge of single-use plastic bags, the centre had no fewer than 1 800 branded, woven shopper bags produced which were handed out to shoppers with individually packed home-baked heart-shaped cookies and small branded giveaways this past weekend.

Tenants were given the opportunity to participate by including discount vouchers and small giveaways in the shopper bags.

As a special treat for the younger ones, a Complimentary popcorn station was part of the programme on Saturday, with no fewer than 500 bags of popcorn, popped, handed out and enjoyed … by some of our not-so-young shoppers too!
