Record breakers at Riverview

Riverview Preparatory School had their interhouse swimming gala on November 2 and 3 where many showed their talents and hard work. Two learners excellend at the event when they broke interhouse records.

Jaime Maritz bettered five swimming records in all the u/12 items during the senior-day gala. Some of them have been standing for over 15 years. She broke the individual medley record that stood strong since 2012 by 15.12 seconds with a new time of 1;24.16.

The new record for 50-metre breaststroke broke the old one by more than three seconds with a time of 43.84 seconds and the 50-metre butterfly record improved by seven seconds with a time of 39.16 seconds.

The backstroke record was shattered after Maritz broke it with a five-second improvement with a time of 40.16 seconds and she was four seconds faster than the previous one in the 50-metre freestyle with the time of 34.16 seconds.

Daniël Bosman broke one record during the gala for the u/11 backstroke 50-metre race by more than a second with a time of 44.87 seconds, the old record was 46.37 seconds that was attained in 2010.
