Short-term traffic flow plan in place for festive season
The Mpumalanga Traffic Department held a meeting at Kambaku Golf Club on Friday December 3 to explain the short-term plan initiated to ease traffic flow during the festive season.
Representatives from transporting companies, traffic officials and community members from Komatipoort met with Wynand Labuschagne, the deputy director of traffic law enforcement, and Richard Simelane, coordinator of traffic reinforcement, to confer the short-term plan to control traffic from Hectorspruit to the Lebombo Border.
Labuschagne said strict measures have been taken from Monday December 6 to carry out the plan.

All heavy-loaded transporting vehicles, empty trucks included, will climb off the N4 highway and take a round route to Coopersdal Road and then turn off onto the Strydomblok Road until it meets up again with the N4 again, near Komatipoort.
Trucks that transport perishable goods and hazardous substances will continue using the N4.

From December 13, KM7, past the Strydomblok junction, will be available for buses and taxis to use. They will be escorted all the way to the border from Komatipoort Airport.
As the lightweight vehicle volumes increase, an implemented stop-and-go will be at the Strydomblok junction to control the flow of the traffic on the N4.
“The goal of this plan is to create an easy flow of traffic for the transport companies, people who will leave for Mozambique, and most importantly, the locals of Komatipoort. We hope this plan will provide freedom to Komatipoorters to use the roads and prevent unnecessary traffic in their town,” said Labuschagne.
