Black Skin Boyz prepare to entertain locals this festive season
It is the festive season and the entertainment industry is buzzing. Among those making South Africans dance, is local house music group, the Black Skin Boyz from Sekhukhune.
The group consists of three DJs of Tukakgomo, namely Jethro Molapo (DJ Jet), Ruben Magabe (DJ Sledge) and Shaun Maphanga (Da OX). These three youths produce amapiano, bolo house and deep house.
“We are a versatile group. We started the group back in 2016 after we met at a night club. We decided to work together and do our own production, so we did some few Qqom tracks that included ‘Woza December’, ‘Mahlalela’ and ‘Chikiliza’.”

The talented guys said their music was well-loved since their debut album. “With the support we received, by the end of 2018, we were very good in music production, and a lot of artists came to us for beats and features.

We continued producing, then in 2019 we started working on an amapiano project called ‘Umsindo’.”
After “Umsido”, the Black Skin Boyz released “Sgubhu”, which was their best hit. The song was played on radio stations such as Tubatse, Sekhukhune, Thobela, Pheli, Sosha, Waterberg and many others. For 2021, they have placed their trust in their hit songs, “Mpoho” and “Salama Salama Thatha Magogo”.
“The two tracks got lots of downloads and airplay on radio, and we believe we are heading to the top,” said DJ Jet.
The local lads shared a stage with the likes of Makhadzi, Mr Jazzi Q, Chymamusique and many other artists. Black Skin Boyz can be booked on 076 610 0281. Phone them to find out where they will be playing New Year’s eve.
