SA has unacceptably high rate of skin cancer, says CANSA
CANSA Nelspruit is offering free skin examinations and Fotofinder screenings on Thursday (January 27).

Make your way to the CANSA Nelspruit Care Centre this Saturday to have yourself checked out for skin cancer between 09:00 and 15:00.
The centre, located at 6 Annecke Street, Sonpark, will be offering free Fotofinder (a mole mapping dermoscope device for examining moles and spots) screenings as well as skin examinations.

According to Cansa, warning signs for skin cancer include:
• Asymmetry – a mark with one half unlike the other. Common moles are round and symmetrical.
• Border irregularities – scalloped/poorly defined edges. Common moles are smooth and have even borders.
• Colour changes – tan, black, brown, red, white, blue. Common moles are usually a single shade of brown or black.
• Diameter – larger than 6mm.
• Evolve – grows bigger and becomes more prominent.
