Local beauty queen wins first princess title in Mrs Universe SA
Heidi Betz described herself as a small-town girl before setting out to compete in the coveted Mrs Universe South Africa pageant. There is nothing small-town about her accomplishments, though.
She came back from the grand finale at the Menlyn Barnyard Theatre in Pretoria on Thursday February 17 with the first princess title.
The Mrs Universe South Africa title was won by Uyleta Nel-Marais and the second princess is Phumzile Ntshabele. At the finale, Betz competed in three rounds, namely national costume, swimwear and evening wear.

The finale also had three talent sections. Betz performed a monologue she had written for the evening. The talent section was won by Lebo Hlakola. Her national costume was handmade and designed by Naseema Dudhia of Silk Threads in Rustenburg, and further handcrafted by Wanga Gladys Ramuhuyu of Wanga Bridal Boutique in Lydenburg.
