Accident on Schoemanskloof Road claims one life

An accident on the Schoemanskloof Road between Joubert en Seuns Padstal and the Viva Garage at about 15:00 today, necessitated the closure of the westbound lane and a stop-and-go to be set up.

Both the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison and Emer-G-Med confirmed that the accident had occurred when two trucks collided head-on.

Martin Jeffreys of Emer-G-Med confirmed one fatality (the driver of the one truck) and two serious injuries (the driver and assistant of the other truck). ER24 and Emer-G-Med transported the injured to hospital.
