Limpopo’s conjoined twins sadly passes away

The news of their death came exactly a week after their birth on Thursday 7 April in the Jane Furs Hospital.

A 41-year-old Sekhukhune mother’s conjoined twins have passed away. After their birth they were transferred to the Mankweng Tertiary and Academic Hospital’s Neonatal ICU Unit in Polokwane.

“We were hopeful that the scheduled joint academic meeting between specialists from Mankweng Tertiary Academic and Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital would bring the desired results for the future of the twins. Unfortunately they did not make it. Our sincere condolences go out to the family and community at large,” said the Limpopo MEC for health, Dr Phophi Ramathuba.

According to the Limpopo Department of Health they passed away on Thursday April 14. Dr Ramathuba said the Mankweng-Pietersburg Complex and Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital, have been hard at work in pursuit of the best possible intervention for the case.

The outcome couldn’t be predicted and the mother is doing well under the circumstance,'”  said Ramathuba.
