Weather warning: severe thunderstorms and possible flooding in Mpumalanga
SAWS has issued the warning for 11:00 today, May 22, until midnight.
The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has issued an orange-level warning for the Mpumalanga region today, May 22, with the possibility of severe thunderstorms and flooding.

The service has predicted rainfall of between 50mm and 70mm, which could lead to flooding and some other significant impacts.
These include the possible flooding of roads and low-lying bridges due to heavy downpours, as well as travel disruptions due to poor visibility and/or road obstructions.

The impacts could also include flooding of informal settlements and damages to or loss of infrastructure.
There is also a possibility of the loss of life due to fast-moving streams.
The warning is valid from 11:00 today until midnight.
