Couple held up outside farm house in Barberton
Four men tied up and robbed a couple on their farm in the Barberton area.

One minute a man was feeding his livestock on his farm near Barberton on Tuesday, October 18, the next he had to phone his wife to bring cash to him while being held up by four men with a knife and pangas.
According to the provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, Pieter Sofianos phoned his wife, Marietjie, to bring all the cash they had inside their house, R10 000, to where he was.

“On her arrival she found him tied up with four unknown African men. They then also tied her up while three of the suspects went into the house and took a .303 rifle, a 357 revolver and solar batteries. Afterwards they fled the scene on foot.”
Hi-Tech Barberton’s Sakkie Dednam said the incident had already occurred in the early afternoon, but the victims were only able to phone for help much later.
According to Mohlala, the police were contacted just after 18:00. One arrest has been made and the firearms were also recovered.
