The Polokwane High Court is expected to give its verdict in the murder case of Boithakgatso Komane this week. The trial had resumed on January 30.
The six-year-old girl from Praktiseer Dark City was found dead in a neighbour’s yard in December 2021.
The Tubatse SAPS arrested Levy Nangoma (30) for allegedly raping and killing the girl. During his first court appearances, Nangoma abandoned bail in the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court before the case was transferred to Polokwane.

Boithakgatso’s murder sparked an outcry in Praktiseer, with the suspect’s home allegedly being torched by angry community members and his family fleeing the township.
The deceased’s mother, Zanokuhle Sibanyoni, pleaded for support from locals during the trial. She expects the courts to ensure justice for the girl.
“We are hoping that the criminal justice system will deal with the matter and ensure there’s justice for Boithakgatso,” Sibanyoni said.
