One dead in accident in Mbombela

A two-vehicle collision on the R40 has left one person dead.

One man was killed and five others injured when a light motor vehicle collided with the side of another one on the R40 in Mbombela on February 25.

ER24 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene at 12:30 to find the two wrecked vehicles in the middle of the left-hand lane as one comes into the city from Riverside. The provincial EMS was already on the scene, tending to the patients.

Upon closer inspection, medics found that one man had already succumbed to his numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for him, and he was declared dead.

A woman was found to be in a critical condition, while four others had sustained minor injuries.

The patients were treated, and the woman was provided with advanced life support before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further care.
