Mbombela Circuit Awards showcase top achievers

The top three schools in the Mbombela Circuit is Hoërskool Nelspruit, Hoërskool Bergvlam and Meridian Karino.

Out of 71 circuits across Mpumalanga, the Mbombela Circuit ended third overall based on its 2022 results.

It boasts four spots in the top performing Grade 12 learners in the province. In second place was Naledi Ramashu of Hoërskool Bergvlam, third was Jomarié du Toit of Hoërskool Nelspruit, in fourth place was Jacques Klopper of Hoërskool Bergvlam and fifth was Paul Harley of Hoërskool Nelspruit.

At the circuit awards held at Hoërskool Nelspruit at the end of February, circuit manager Philip Musa Linkwati said, “In 2022 at this venue, we made a commitment of undertaking that we will realise the set target and our objective to increase the number of bachelor passes from 750 in 2021 to 800 in 2022.”

The number of bachelor passes was 864.

The circuit achieved an overall pass rate of 91.6%, an increase of 0.2%. The breakdown per grade was as follows: Grade R, 95%, Grade One, 90%, grades two to seven, 92%, Grade Eight, 85%, Grade Nine, 79%, Grade 10, 84%, Grade 11, 88% and Grade 12, 95%.

Hoërskool Bergvlam had the most Grade 12 teachers receiving a 100% pass rate in their subjects, with 22 teachers.

Hoërskool Nelspruit had the second most with 19.

The top performing school in the circuit was Hoërskool Nelspruit with a 99.6% pass rate. Hoërskool Bergvlam came in second with 98.8% followed by Meridian Karino with 98.5%.

Edgeview Academy was awarded the trophy for most improved school with a 92.1% pass rate, an increase of 5.1% from last year.

For public schools, Hoërskool Nelspruit had the highest number of bachelor passes, 265. Edgeview Academy took the top spot among private schools with 90.
