Businesswomen learn how to turn a vision into reality in Alkmaar
The South African Council for Business Women Nelspruit's March networking event gave an insight into solutions to consider during load-shedding, and members had the chance to talk about ways to achieve their visions.

Turn a vision into a reality. This was the theme of the South African Council for Business Women (SACBW) Nelspruit’s monthly networking meeting on March 8. This event was held at the Alkmaar Draai at Golden Spot in Alkmaar and the dress code was white with a splash of colour.
The goal of the SACBW’s networking sessions is for women to network, learn from one another, grow, mentor other women and support one another’s businesses.
Beverley Baumgart of Beverley B Counselling and Charl Nel of Battery Warehouse (solar power division) were the guest speakers.
The attendees were taught ways in which they can keep their lights on. Nel spoke about the various alternative solutions Battery Warehouse offers to help community members provide power for their businesses and homes.

“During load-shedding, try to be as efficient as possible. Make sure what you are using is a critical item. Don’t have unnecessary items running when they don’t have to be. If you install a solar system, power your critical loads. There are other non-essential loads, such as your geyser and air conditioner, which you don’t need to stay on throughout. If you do your installation and planning like that, you will have a more cost-effective system. These are some of the solutions that can help to keep the power on when Eskom fails to provide.”

At the end of Nel’s presentation, there was a question-and-answer session. He helped to find solutions for all sorts of problems.

Baumgart focused on the vision one has for their business and what they need to achieve it and keep it alive.
“Firstly, you need to have a vision. Secondly, the confidence to pursue it. Thirdly, you need a support team. Fourth, you will need your short weekly goals to motivate you, and lastly, you need to get out of the boat and chase it.”
