West Acres cable theft causes power outage

Some Mbombela residents were left without power on Saturday March 18 due to cable theft in West Acres.

According to Thea Rix, power has been restored to most areas. Some remain without power, however, and arrangements are being made for the replacement of the stolen cable.

Rix said there had been an operation earlier in the week when herself, law enforcement and ACS Spartan Security cleared squatter camps suspected of being responsible for an earlier incident of cable theft.

However, the squatters came back after having been removed.
