Two men killed in Hilltop Pass accident
Two men died in a single-vehicle accident when the driver allegedly lost control of his car in the Hilltop Pass towards Barberton recently.
Two members of the national Department of Public Works and Infrastructure’s (DPWI) regional office died in a car accident on the R40 towards Barberton on Saturday morning, March 18.
According to Emer-G-Med, the two male DPWI members were driving over Hilltop Pass when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle.

Emer-G-Med received the call-out just before 08:00. The two occupants were declared dead on the scene.

The DPWI’s spokesperson, Thami Mchunu, said the two men had been working at the department’s Mbombela offices. The pair’s next of kin had since been informed of the accident. The men were originally from Limpopo and the Eastern Cape respectively, and were based in Mbombela for work.
Mchunu said the department was unable to release the names and ages of the deceased at this stage.
