Suspect arrested for fatally shooting man in White River

The victim had not been shot inside a family seafood restaurant, as earlier reported.

On Saturday March 25, a man was fatally shot in Chief Mgiyeni Khumalo Drive in White River. According to eyewitnesses, two men had been engaged in a heated argument in the street, and one drew a firearm.

“The man fired a warning shot, but the argument persisted. He then fatally shot the other man. Paramedics and the police were called to the scene,” they said.

Lowvelder has learnt that the suspect was not shot inside a family seafood restaurant as previously reported.

Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene. Upon their arrival, they found the victim on the ground to have sustained fatal gunshot wounds. He was declared dead.

The suspect was immediately arrested. A provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, confirmed the arrest and said they would release details of the incident in due course.
