Alleged drug peddler arrested in Schoemansdal with dagga
A suspect was discovered to be in possession of marijuana worth R46 077.02. He is expected to appear in court soon.

A 50-year-old male suspect was arrested by members of the Jeppes Reef border police.
According to a provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, the suspect was cornered at Matsamo Plaza in Schoemansdal
at 07:45 this morning, April 16, after allegedly being found to be smuggling dagga to the value of R46 077.02.

“The police were in the vicinity when they noticed a suspicious man climbing into a minbus taxi carrying a huge plastic bag. The officers were curious and approached him and a search was conducted.
“It was during this period that they discovered a large amount of dagga im his possession. It was wrapped in sellotape and weighed 11.066kg. The marijuana had been concealed inside the plastic bag. The suspect was arrested and charged for dealing in dagga,” he said.

Mohlala said the man is a South African and is expected to appear in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court in Tonga on Monday April 17.
