They are also linked with a case of attempted murder and kidnapping in Middelburg. These two incidents occurred between October and December last year.
The suspects were due to appear in court in Middelburg on April 17, but the case was postponed to the following Monday in Lydenburg. Some community members protested outside the court in Mashishing, under the impression that the suspects would appear there on Monday.
Sergeant Cave Dilebo, acting spokesperson for the Lydenburg SAPS, said more information will be made public after the suspects’ first appearance. The SAPS is currently withholding details of the crimes to protect the victims.
