Some community members from Riba Cross and Mashamothane Villages filled the court room in support of the girl’s mother and opposed bail for the suspect.

“We plead with men to refrain from abusing our children. Cases of genderbased violence continue to increase in our communities. We urge men to do some introspection, and to stop the rape, abuse and killing of women,” said Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality’s Ward 25 councillor, Tsepo Makutu.

Makutu said they wish to see justice prevail in this case. The case was postponed to June 26 as investigations continue
