Two security guards wounded in a cash-in-transit robbery on R537 near White River

Advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilise the wounded security guards before taking them to hospital. The road has been since cleared for traffic.

Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene of a cash-in-transit heist on the R537 near White River around 17:45 on Wednesday. On arrival at the scene, an armoured vehicle was found to have been blown up. Two male security officers were found with gunshot wounds and were in a critical condition.

Advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilise them before they were rushed by ambulances to a hospital in Mbombela for further care.

The police confirmed the incident. More details surrounding the attack will be shared in due course as the police are still examining the crime scene. The road has been cleared after it was closed for more than five hours and traffic is flowing.
