Five trucks set alight on N4 near Emgwenya

The N4 between the ZASM Tunnel at Emgwenya and Waterval Onder is being cleared following the burning of five trucks late last night, July 9.

A provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, said two vehicles, a Toyota Hilux and a sedan, had stopped the trucks on the road last night, instructed the drivers to get out of their vehicles and then set them alight.

He said the motive for the incident is unknown and that no arrests have been made at this stage.

TRAC has said it is unclear when the road will be cleared and motorists are advised to use the Schoemanskloof road.
