Still no sign of missing Barberton man despite aerial searches

Erik Vermaak from Barberton has now been missing for more than 100 hours.

Frederick (Erik) Vermaak, a control room operator of Hi-Tech Barberton, was reported missing on July 22 – the search is still ongoing.

He was last seen at 05:00 that day, when he was dropped off at his home in De Villiers Street after completing his night shift. That brings the hours since he was last seen to more than 100, at the time of going to press.

Sakkie Dednam of Hi-Tech Barberton said, however, that his bakkie had not passed one of the town’s licence plate recognition cameras, indicating that it still had to be somewhere local.

Dednam said they are doing everything in their power to search all possible areas. He also confirmed various searches have been carried out with planes as well as drones.

If anyone has seen him or his vehicle, contact the Barberton SAPS or Hi-Tech Barberton on 013 712 5773.
