Lowveld Media boasts 27 FCJ Award finalists
Tonight, August 4, is the night the winners for the 2022 Avbob Forum of Community Journalists Excellence Awards will be announced. This year, the award ceremony takes place in Cape Town.

It is with great pride that we share that several publications and journalists of the Lowveld Media group have been named finalists in numerous categories of the 2022 Avbob Forum of Community Journalists (FCJ) Excellence Awards.
The award ceremony takes place in Cape Town on August 4.
The FCJ awards are aimed at encouraging excellence and rewarding meritorious work in local and community print media.
In total, 531 entries were received for the awards, and after the adjudicators had sieved through them with careful selection, the following publications and journalists were named. The 27 finalists are:
• Newspaper of the year: Lowvelder and Middelburg Observer
• Photographer of the year: Daleen Naudé, Middelburg Observer, and Wayne van der Walt, Highvelder
• Journalist of the year: Gerhard Rheeder, Middelburg Observer
• Best front page of a corporate-owned free newspaper: Lowvelder Express and Highvelder
• Best front page of a corporate-owned paid newspaper: Lowvelder, Mpumalanga News and Witbank News
• Photography general: Linzetta Calitz, Lowvelder; Daleen Naudé, Middelburg Observer, and Wayne van der Walt, Highvelder
• Photography, news: Daleen Naudé, Middelburg Observer, and Zita Goldswain, Witbank News
