Multiple accidents reported on N4

The N4 between KaNyamazane and Matsulu saw multiple accidents, though the gorge is now clear. There is a contraflow in place between Mara and Mabalel.

Multiple accidents were reported on the N4 towards Malalane on the evening of Saturday August 26 and on Sunday August 27, hampering traffic flow.

TRAC’s Solange Soares said there were five accidents in the same region between late on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. No fatalities were reported.

According to Van Wettens Breakdown Services’ Monica Fourie, the first accident had occurred late on Saturday evening between KaNyamazane and Matsulu, between a truck transporting chrome and another one transporting citrus.

The scene was cleared and the trucks towed away before midday on Sunday.
TRAC reported another accident between two trucks at about 13:45. A stop-and-go was put in place until the scene was cleared at about 15:30.

The Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison’s spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, said a secondary crash between two bakkies then occurred. This occurred between Mara and Mabalel.
TRAC said the scene is in the process of being cleared and a contraflow is in place.
