N4 cleared of accidents
There have been several accidents on the N4 leading to Malalane. The road has since been cleared, however.
The N4 to Malalane has been cleared following multiple accidents that occurred between late on Saturday evening, August 26, and Sunday afternoon, August 27.
According to ER24’s spokesperson, Russel Meiring, an accident on the Croc Valley road on Saturday night left a three-year-old boy and a man dead.
He said when paramedics arrived on scene, they found two light motor vehicles had collided. “On closer inspection, it was found that a male driver from one vehicle and a three-year-old boy from the second vehicle had sustained fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead.”

Meiring said two other women involved in the crash were assessed and found to have moderate injuries. They were treated and transported to a nearby hospital for further care.
Meiring said the second collision occurred on the N4 near KaNyamazane in the early hours of Sunday morning, and was between two trucks.
He said the driver of one truck was still trapped inside when the paramedics arrived. He sustained moderate injuries and was transported to hospital. The other driver escaped injury.
According to Van Wettens Breakdown Services’ Monica Fourie, a collision also took place between two trucks on the N4 between KaNyamazane and Matsulu on Saturday evening. The accident was between a truck transporting chrome and another transporting citrus. The scene was cleared and the trucks were towed away before midday.

TRAC reported another accident between two trucks at about 13:45. A stop-and-go was put in place until the scene was cleared at about 15:30.
The Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison’s spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, said a secondary crash between two vehicles then occurred between Mara and Mabalel. By 18:16, all accidents had been cleared.
